REVERB, my solo show that opened Thursday June 26, 2011 at Able Fine Art NY in the Chelsea art district of NYC, has already gained the attention of FRAME magazine. FRAME is the world’s barometer of interior design. It is published in Amsterdam. The magazine shows you what’s happening and where to find it. The latest interiors and products, spiced up with some art, shop windows and sets: that’s the essence of FRAME magazine.

The light graffiti photograph, Jasmine/Never Sorry (for Ai Weiwei), references several events and topics starting with the well-known artist and the documentary film being made by Alison Klayman titled Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry, the first feature-length film about the internationally renowned Chinese artist and activist. As graffiti has at its core an authority defiant driven motivation, my idea was to cover the two walls with the words ‘never sorry’ using a pale yellow lamp to reference the color of the Jasmine flower and the Jasmine Revolution of 2011. Ai Weiwei posted a tweet on Twitter February 24, 2011 saying: “I didn’t care about jasmine at first, but people who are scared by jasmine sent out information about how harmful jasmine is… which makes me realize that jasmine is what scares them the most.” While making this work in the dark I thought very intensely about his detention, interrogation and suspected abuse and torture.

Been cranking out new light graffiti and light painting photos @ the abandoned Simon Silk Mill in Easton, PA for my upcoming solo show, Reverb, curated by Jill Conner at Able Fine Art NY opening June 23-August 30. This photo of my tag (not in the show) was an end of the night tribute to how my work is my Fountain of Youth and keeps me energized and forever young.

Artists, dancers, musicians, designers and other innovators come together and exchange ideas and get inspired. We R Classic provides the platform – giving artists of all disciplines the space to tell stories and showcase their work. Together they connect and combine forces, making an entirely new creative intersection of cultural pioneers worldwide. I am very happy to be one of the first contributors of the inaugural April 2011 issue with my light graffiti and light painting photography. Reebok is embracing artists in a truly unique way!

I was thinking about the ever constant collision of art, history, pop culture, icons, celebrity, status, bad behavior, ego, money, drive, determination, perception, association, awareness, politics, social media, all media, gossip, enemies, violence, war, competition, friends, family, parenthood, relationships, love, passion and riding the fine line between sanity & insanity..between life and death. I was inspired to make these two pieces, Charlie Sheen and Tiger Blood.
